What is an agentic AI system?

An AI system that plans and carries out multi-step tasks, such as looking up information, using software tools and producing finished work, rather than answering one prompt at a time. Well-built agents work within clear permissions and hand decisions to people when needed.

How is an AI agent different from a chatbot or a standard automation?

A chatbot answers questions. A standard automation follows fixed rules. An agent can handle variation: it works out which steps to take, uses tools to take them and checks the result against rules you set, within the limits you define.

What can AI agents do for a small or mid-sized business?

Good first jobs are frequent and well defined: responding to new leads, answering routine customer questions, compiling reports, researching competitors and drafting documents from approved sources.

Is it safe to give an AI agent access to company data?

It can be, with the right design. We limit what each agent can access, keep sensitive actions behind human approval, log what it does and agree on data boundaries before building. We also review the data policies of the tools involved.

Do we need to replace our current software?
